2.6 Terabyte FireWire Disk Storage

One tool case retrofited to contain eight EIDE hard drives
(4 x 400 GB Seagate Barracuda and 4 x 250 GB Maxtor MaxLine Plus II),
connected to four IEEE1394 to EIDE Bridge Boards (FW-142AS) for interfacing with a PC,
powered by one ATX power supply (350W) and cooled down with four 80 x 80 fans.
To control air flow I added some plexi and cardboard, visible on the last picture

IEEE1394 to EIDE Bridge Board FW-142AS is meant to replace old SCSI connectors (50 pin Centronics)
and in such way transform old, small and slow SCSI drives in SCSI casing with new, big and fast EIDE drives.
You can connect two hard drives on each FW-142AS (master/slave or cable select),
that's why eight drives and only four bridge boards.

Check also my previous project, 1 Terabyte FireWire Disk Storage.

Remark:
Because 250 GB drive actually shows 233 GB and 400 GB drive shows 372 GB of free space in OS,
there is only 2420 GB (2.42 TB) of free space available, thanks to marketing trick of hard drive manufacturers.
